Sr Director Category Management
Job Summary:
The Sr. Director, Category Management leads and refines strategic plan to deliver maximum profitability for assigned categories based on historical performance, trends, and latest market insights. Tracks category performance and modifies plans in order to achieve targeted revenue or margin goals. Provide coaching and leadership as commercial subject matter expert related to supplier negotiations, complex problem solving, market indexed cost modeling, standardizing and refining processes to sustain and optimize secured benefit.
Job Duties:
? Provides leadership and direction for category management and new product development
? Accountable for the performance and results of assigned categories as well as continuous improvement of new product development process
? Develops and executes strategy to achieve key business objectives
? Create and maintain supplier performance metrics
? Apply deep and comprehensive understanding of centralized sourcing and category management theories, practices, and systems as well as the changing business environment
? Evaluates key business challenges; directs the development of new or innovative solutions to meet the ever changing needs of the business
? Selects products, customizes product mix or assortment, negotiates with suppliers, suggests promotional calendars based on seasonal pricing
? Track category performance and modify plans in order to achieve targeted revenue or margin goals
? Gathers and interprets data describing shopping behavior, consumer trends, or the competitive marketplace to identify business opportunities
? Perform complex tasks with wide latitude for determining appropriate processes, requiring limited guidance or instruction
? Shapes the opinions of, and negotiates with, other senior leaders; establishes collaborative relationships across the business and with external organizations
? Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority for personnel decisions
Experience and Education:
? Deep commercial technical competency related to supplier/product development, commodity indices, and market insights
? Centralized category strategic leadership/management required, ideally 3+ locations
? Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience in supply chain related roles with minimum of 5 years in sourcing
? MBA Preferred
? Industry related certifications CPIM, CPSM or equivalent preferred
