Local SEO Specialist - Home Services Portfolio Type: Full-Time Location: Remote (EST business hours) About Us: We’re a fast-growing digital marketing agency that helps home service brands grow and thrive online. From HVAC and plumbing to landscaping and remodeling, we work with clients who are experts at what they do - and we help them get seen, booked and remembered. About the Role: We're seeking a Local SEO Specialist, ideally with experience in service-based industries (e.g. roofing, HVAC, epoxy), to help audit, optimize and grow clients’ search performance, focusing on local and organic traffic that converts into leads, not just rankings. This role blends traditional Local SEO with emerging Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and AI Search Awareness (GEO) practices, ensuring our clients stay visible across both Google and AI-driven searches. Responsibilities: - Conduct technical SEO audits using tools like SEMrush to identify site issues and opportunities. - Perform keyword research to identify local and national ranking opportunities. - Create content calendars based on keyword strategy and business goals. - Optimize existing and new content according to SEO best practices and AI-readiness standards. - Create or refine content using Surfer SEO or similar tools for specific clients. - Audit and improve Google Business Profiles (GBPs) and ensure accurate NAP/citation data across directories using BrightLocal or similar tools. - Track performance and keyword movement using ProRankTracker, GSC, and Looker Studio dashboards. - Implement on-site SEO improvements in CMS platforms (WordPress, Squarespace, etc.). - Stay up to date on SEO trends, especially AI-driven search changes, AEO, and local SERP shifts. - Optimize local and on-page content for AI and answer engines, ensuring visibility in voice, conversational, and location-based search results. - Deliver regular reports with actionable insights, focusing on lead generation, conversions, and measurable business impact. - Work during EST business hours and maintain regular communication with the Account Manager for coordination. Tools We Use: Must be proficient in: - Google Search Console - Google Analytics - Google My Business - WordPress and/or Craft CMS - SEMrush, Ahrefs or Screaming Frog Nice to have / preferred experience with: - Surfer SEO - BrightLocal - Looker Studio - ProRankTracker Key Skills: - Strong understanding of Local SEO and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) principles. - Proficient in conducting technical SEO audits and implementing on-site recommendations. - Awareness of how AEO and GEO enhance Local SEO through structured data, FAQs, and conversational content optimization. - Ability to manage and prioritize multiple client accounts simultaneously. - Clear and effective communication skills, able to explain SEO concepts clearly to internal teams and clients. - Skilled at creating and documenting repeatable SEO processes for audits, optimization, and reporting.
