Job Title: Second Level Reviewer, Clinical Documentation Integrity (Remote) Cost Center: 101651052 HIM-Clinical Doc Integrity Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Employee Type: Regular Work Shift: Mon-Fri; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (United States of America) Job Description: JOB SUMMARY The Second Level Reviewer (SLR), Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI), is a CDI professional with a broad clinical knowledge base and advanced understanding of DRG documentation requirements who works under the supervision of the Supervisor, CDI, and in collaboration with the CDI Educator/Analyst and Team Lead, CDI, as a part of the system CDI Leadership Team. This individual is responsible for comprehensive secondary clinical chart reviews at the system level including, but not limited to: Concurrent and retrospective medical record review for defined patient populations to identify opportunities for documentation improvement and integrity, Serve as CDI representative for DRG validation audits/appeals, PEPPER, HAC/PSI, Query auditing for compliance and collaborating with Health Information Management (HIM), Facility Coding, and Case Management departments to assure documentation is clinically appropriate. JOB QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing OR Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management Preferred/Optional: None EXPERIENCE Minimum Required: Five years Clinical Documentation Integrity experience Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Demonstrated broad clinical knowledge base necessary to review a wide variety of medical records Demonstrated positive communication skills Preferred/Optional: None CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.
