Network Security Engineer
The mission of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences is the development of professional health care practitioners through innovation, individualized, and quality classroom, clinical, and distance education.
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Network Security Engineer will provide administration, maintenance, and security of our network infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of network protocols, security practices, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve network issues efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include:
? Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and customers to define requirements.
? Design, implement, and manage the University's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
? Monitor network performance and ensure the reliability and availability of network resources.
? Conduct regular network security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate potential threats.
? Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with SOX and HIPAA regulations.
? Respond to and resolve network security incidents, including malware infections, unauthorized access, and data breaches.
? Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate security measures into new and existing systems.
? Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging network technologies and security trends.
? Provide technical support and training to staff on network security best practices.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Provide technical support and guidance to IT team members or end-users as needed.
? May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
? Undergraduate degree in computer science or at least 5 years of work experience in relevant field.
? Proven experience in network administration and security, with a focus on both areas.
? Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewall management.
? Experience with network security tools and technologies, such as IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint protection.
? Familiarity with cloud-based networking and security solutions.
? Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
? Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
? CompTIA Security+ certification is a plus.
? CompTIA Network+ certification is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions, as necessary.
